Reaching from the corner Enormous crushing hands Grabbing, holding, restraining Constricting and stiffening Belonging not to animal nor creature No childhood monster reaches forth No disembodied evil apprehends Yet reaching from the corner Curling fingers of doom Thick knuckles defying resistance I’m crushed in the palm of angry silence.
waking suddenly alone Such distance forged between us; both inches of cold impassable bedsheet, Rumples impossible to ascend.
